"Global Dignity Day"
Global Dignity Day takes place in schools on the third Wednesday of October each year. It is carried out in the Middle East, Europe, Asia, Oceania, Africa and the Americas. Thousands of volunteers act as guides and facilitators, leading the students in a conversation about dignity. The aim is to make the concept of dignity tangible and understandable for each and every student. Defining dignity in their own words and sharing stories from their own lives gives students ownership of the concept. We celebrated the Dignity Day, Posters were made by the students and were displayed on the "UN Wall". And PN staff were respected by the principle as she gifted them and they were so happy. Students were clapping and cheering up their favorite PN. There is one guard who is very old, but he works here and everyone appreciate him by clapping and all the students were standing when his name was announced.
Then there was a competition about Dignity. All 7 classes were gathered in auditorium and a teacher announced to topics on dignity day ! one was in Urdu while other one was in English. She gave us to options, either we have to write a speech or either an Essay. The student/s who is going to write a Speech will present it in front of the stage and the student/s who is going to write and Essay is going to give it to the teacher. We only had 10 mints to complete our Essay or Speech. After 10 mints Essays were collected and the students who wrote speech in urdu were on one side and the students who wrote it in English were on one side. When everyone's speech was presented the students who wrote Essay they have to judge the positions 1st 2nd and 3rd which were given to three students from Urdu Essay and three from English. Our day was well spent here and it was interesting. Everyone enjoyed it and the students were given certificate by the Headmistress Miss Saima.
Respect is done (not in a pejorative sense) to other people. When dealing with other people it is about:
- being polite
- being thoughtful and caring
- keeping them informed
- meeting their needs
- ensuring their privacy, etc
